Feb. 20, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming & diving team will be competing in the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 21-24 at the Flickinger Aquatics Center in Buffalo, NY. In last year's Atlantic 10 Championships both Colonials teams failed to place in the top five for the first time ever with the men placing seventh and the women eighth.
Last year, sophomore David Zenk was the first student-athlete in league history to be named Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same season after winning three individual titles at the 2006 Conference Championships. He will look to repeat as the league's top performer this year, and will also pursue several GW records in the process.
The championship commences at 4:30pm on Wednesday, Feb. 21, with the trials of the women's one-meter diving competition, followed by the finals of the men's and women's 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays at 6:30pm, along with the finals of the women's one-meter diving competition. The Championship continues at 10:30am on Thursday with the time trials, followed by the finals at 6:30pm. The same schedule will be followed on Friday and Saturday.
