WASHINGTON
– The George Washington men’s and women’s swimming teams have earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team status for the fall 2012 semester.

The Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Last fall the women’s squad boasted a 3.19 cumulative GPA while the men combined for a 3.00. It marks the fourth straight year that both programs received the academic nod.

“Our men’s and women's swimming teams have a strong tradition of academic excellence and serve as proud representatives of our department and university,” said Karen Ercole, Associate Athletic Director for Educational Support Services. “We congratulate them on their continued hard work and dedication to success both in the pool and in the classroom.”

In addition to garnering CSCAA team academic accolades, juniors Caroline Myers and Jake Mortensen and senior Phillip Graeter were also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Teams.

The Buff and Blue men’s and women’s swimming teams finished fourth and fifth, respectively, at the 2012-13 A-10 Championships last month.
