Colonial of the Week Presented by Capgemini: Max Forstenhaeusler & Emily Zhang
Swimmers shined at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship
Forstenhaeusler earned four medals and contributed to a pair of record-breaking relays in helping the men earn a runner-up finish in the national postseason meet behind host Navy. The sophomore from Germany won gold and set program records with the Colonials in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:31.75) and 400-yard freestyle relay (1:21.54). The 800 free team broke the meet mark, as well.
Individually, Forstenhaeusler grabbed silver in the 100-yard freestyle, setting a new career best in the process (44.37 seconds). He also scored in the 200-yard individual medley (sixth) and 100-yard butterfly (12th).
Zhang won three medals, highlighted by a silver-medal effort in the 100-yard individual medley (55.94). The junior from Maryland also picked up bronze in the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.56) and 800-yard freestyle relay (7:18.98). She set a program record in the 400-yard individual medley (4:15.78) en route to a fifth-place finish, as well.
Those efforts helped the GW women finish eighth in the team standings out of 31 squads in their season-ending meet.
