Colonials to Compete Against Local Foes American, Catholic and Loyola
Oct. 10, 2013
WASHINGTON – The George Washington men's and women's swimming teams return to the Reeves Aquatic Center at nearby American for a two-day quad-meet against local foes AU, Catholic and Loyola on Friday and Saturday.
Action will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and will follow with two sessions on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. The quad-meet is the second competition for the Colonials this season as they opened the 2013-14 campaign at the Potomac Relays last weekend where both squads took home third-place finishes.
The women’s team was paced at the Potomac Relays by freshman Lauren Law as she was a member of four top-five finishing relays, and senior Caroline Myers and junior Janica Lee, who each helped pace three top-five relay teams. Sophomore Oliver Keegan and rookie Bogdan Balteanu led the men’s team as they were each a part of four top-five finishing relays.
The GW women claimed first in a tri-meet with American and Catholic last season, winning all but one of the 13 events. Lee and Myers each won a meet-high four races to help the Colonials to the top finish. The men’s squad took home second place last season against its district rivals with wins in five events.
