NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The George Washington men’s swimming team’s Phillip Graeter was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week, the league announced Monday, after guiding the Colonials to its first dual meet victory of the 2011-12 season over Towson on Saturday.

GW’s reigning MVP boasted four first-place finishes, three in individual events and one relay, as he guided the Buff and Blue to 141-121 win over the visiting Tigers in Smith Center Pool. It is the first conference nod for Graeter, who shares the weekly award with Fordham’s Thomas Yi.

Graeter opened the meet swimming the third leg of the first-place finishing 200-yard medley. Alongside teammates junior Alex Etz, freshman Garrett Cottingham and senior Marshall Seedorff, Graeter and his squad captured first in the event with a time of 1:36.54.

Individually, Graeter won the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:54.98. The Schwerin, Germany, native also won the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:54.98.

To cap off his impressive performance, Graeter won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:55.22 to post the top time in the conference this season.

GW returns to the pool for the Patriot Invitational at George Mason from Thursday, Nov. 17-Saturday, Nov. 19.
