Nov. 24, 2008
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- GW senior David Zenk (St. Louis, MO) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week for the first time this season and the seventh time in his career, the league office announced Monday.
Competing at the Patriot Invitational at George Mason University on Nov. 21-23, Zenk won three individual races to earn his seventh career A-10 Performer of the Week honor. Zenk won the 100-yard backstroke (:50.50), the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.44) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.46). George Washington finished seventh in the eight-team field.
It marked the first swim competition this season for Zenk, a two-sport standout who also competes for the GW men's water polo team, after missing the last few weeks with an injured hand.
GW next swims Saturday, Dec. 6, at Old Dominion in Norfolk, VA. Diving begins at 11:00 a.m. while the swimming events get underway at 1:30 p.m.
