Two-Time A-10 Coach of the Year Has Propelled Colonials' Program onto National Scene
Former Virginia Standout Brings Wealth of Experience to GW Program
Coach Oudshoorn joins the GW staff after playing professionally for a year in the Netherlands where he competed on the Future and Challenger circuits and earned Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings as high as No. 1,398 for singles and No. 1,263 in doubles. While in the Netherlands, Coach Oudshoorn also served as a tennis instructor and worked with the nation's top junior players at the Big Point Tennis Academy.
"I am very excited to have Philippe on board as we keep pushing GW men's tennis to new heights," said Coach Munoz. "He brings experience from the No. 1 team in the country where he was a team captain, and his leadership skills and ability to relate to players will help us bring out the very best in this team."
Prior to competing professionally, Coach Oudshoorn was a men's tennis student-athlete at Virginia from 2009-12 and was named team captain during his senior year. During his three years with the Cavaliers, Coach Oudshoorn amassed a singles record of 44-17 and a doubles mark of 33-10. He peaked as high as the No. 102 in the nation in singles while also earning a No. 14 doubles ranking. Coach Oudshoorn helped Virginia maintain a top-five national ranking over his collegiate career, as well as capture three team ITA National Indoor titles, three ACC crowns and a pair of appearances in the finals of the NCAA Tournament.
"I am very excited to start working with such an excellent team. Coach Munoz has done a great job improving the team's standards every year and I am thrilled to contribute so this program can reach new levels of success," said Coach Oudshoorn. "We have a great group of student-athletes who have a professional attitude and look to improve every day."
