Colonials Lose Dual Meet Season Opener to Old Dominion
Jan. 24, 2003
NORFOLK, VA - The GW Men's Tennis team was handled easily, 7-0, by Old Dominion at the Princess Anne Country Club on Friday, January 24. The Colonials were unable to secure a point by losing all six singles matches in straight sets. Junior Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) almost forced a third set in his match, but ended up losing 6-3, 7-6 to Salman Mohammed. In doubles play, the team of juniors Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Guad School) and Brett Warner faced the ITA's fourth ranked team of Zolton Csanadi and Izak van der Merwe losing 8-3. GW will gain valuable experience by facing this difficult opponent and will look to build off of it as they prepare for their next few matches and then to the conference season. The Colonials dropped to 1-1 on the season in dual matches, and will face another tough opponent, Virginia, on Saturday January 25, at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, VA. They will move on from there to face James Madison on Friday, January 31 at the Montclair Tennis Club in Montclair, VA.
