GW Men's Tennis Defeats James Madison in Home Opener

McLEAN, VA -The George Washington Men's Tennis team made their 2007 home debut on Friday when they hosted James Madison, downing the Dukes by a final score of 5-2. For the Colonials, it was their first victory of the young season.

GW took five of the six singles matches on the day, including a 6-2, 6-1 win by number-one seed Mustafa Genscoy. Junior Mark Doumba, the four seed, earned his victory in dramatic fashion, 3-6, 7-6(7-2), 6-3.

JMU claimed the double's point by winning all three of the matches. The number-two seeded duo of freshman Ryan Hunter and Genscoy made it tough, extending their contest to a tiebreaker before falling 8-9(4-7).

George Washington will play another home match this Friday, Feb. 2, at 12:00 pm. The Colonials will host the Bison of Howard at the Regency Sport & Health Club in McLean, VA.
