Hane Wins Two for Colonials

WASHINGTON, DC - The GW Men's Tennis team pulled out a squeaker against James Madison, 4-3, at the Mt. Vernon Tennis Facility in Washington, DC on Friday, January 31 to even their record at 2-2. Junior Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School) led the way with two victories, one in singles competition versus Mike Hendricksen, 6-3, 6-2 and one with doubles partner freshman Marius Weigert (Hamburg, Germany/ESI International Academy), 8-5.
Despite Hane and Weigert's win in doubles, the Colonials lost the doubles point and needed to win four of the six singles matches to come out victorious. Hane did his part as did sophomore number two Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) who defeated John Janssen, 6-2, 6-4. Junior Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) did his part beating Bryan Knehr, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 and freshman Tim Rogers (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) pulled out a tough one against Clint Morse, 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4 to give the Colonials the 4-3 win.
Up next, GW takes on American at the Montclair Tennis Club on Saturday, February 1 at 12:00 p.m.
