GW Men's Tennis Downs Howard

Feb. 5, 2007

Results

McLEAN, VA -In their second home match of the season, The George Washington University men's tennis team earned their second win of the year, downing cross-town rival Howard, 7-0. Due to injury, the Bison competed with just five players, but Head Coach Greg Munoz did not take them lightly, as they are always strong in doubles and dangerous in singles.

GW took the singles portion of the contest, winning all six matches, five of them in two sets, including #1 seed Mustafa Gencsoy's 6-1, 6-2 victory. The Colonials also earned the doubles point. The second-seeded pair of Ryan Hunter and Gencsoy defeated their Howard counterparts, 8-2.

With 10 men in their lineup, many of them interchangeable, GW is inching forward as they look to make a difference in this year's Atlantic 10 Championships. The Colonials continue their season with a weekend trip to Ohio as they open A-10 play against rivals Dayton (Feb. 16) and Xavier (Feb. 17).
