GW Men's Tennis Drops Two Conference Road Matches
Feb. 17, 2007 DAYTON, OH - George Washington Men's Tennis lost at Xavier on Friday in their opening Atlantic 10 match, by a final score of 6-1. The Musketeers took five points from singles play in addition to the doubles point. GW's lone point came from No.1 seed junior Mustafa Gencsoy who downed Xavier's Doug Matthews 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Fellow junior, fourth-seeded Mark Doumba, battled through three sets before falling 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-2. In Saturday's contest, the Colonials squared off against Dayton but again were unable to earn the conference victory. GW lost the doubles point but managed to pick-up three points in the singles competition. Junior Elliott Daniels, freshman Ryan Hunter and senior Brandon Harris were all winners in their respective matches against the Flyers. GW, now 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the A-10, will look to rebound February 23 when they travel to Virginia Commonwealth to take on the Rams at 1:00 p.m.
