ITHACA, NY -- The GW men's tennis team traveled to face Cornell on Friday, battling hard but dropping the match 7-0.

GW played well, scoring at least one point in each match. In No. 4 singles Ugur Atalay dropped a close match, 7-5, 7-5.

Arya Vayghan's No. 6 singles match went to a deciding tiebreaker. Vayghan fell 6-2 in the firs set, won the second set 7-6(5) but dropped the deciding third set(10-8).

"It is still early in our season due to the snow and despite the loss, I am happy with our play," said head coach Greg Munoz. "The team is hitting the ball much better."

In doubles action, the Colonials again played the Big Red tough. Yan Levinski and Richard Blumenfeld lost by only one point, 9-8, in their No. 3 doubles match.

"We are getting close to finding our right doubles teams and singles line-up," said Munoz. "Our guys are so even in the line, so we have experimented a lot. We will find the right combination possibly by the end of the weekend.

The Colonials are back in action Saturday at 11 a.m. against Binghamton in Ithaca, NY. GW then travels to play Columbia on Sunday at 2 p.m.
