Men's Tennis Drops A-10 Match to Xavier, 5-2

March 5, 2005

MONTCLAIR, VA - The George Washington men's tennis team fell to Xavier, 5-2, on Friday, March 4, in an Atlantic 10 Conference match at the Montclair Country Club.

Senior Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY) and freshman Sam Salyer (Minneapolis, MN) secured both the Colonials' points in singles play. At No. 1, Treadgold bested J.R. Randall in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, while Salyer downed Bryan Schubert, 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth spot.

The Musketeers earned a 1-0 lead in the contest by winning 2-of-3 doubles matches. At the the third position, senior Daniel Raisbeck (Bogota, Colombia) and sophomore Daniel Balke (Portage, MI) defeated Adam Shaeffer and Rustin Reys, 8-5, for GW's lone win.

GW (5-7) returns to play when it travels to Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, March 18, to take on Temple at 1:00 p.m.
