GW Men's Tennis Sweeps Fourth In A Row Against Towson

WASHINGTON, DC - The GW Men's Tennis team pounded Towson, 7-0, on Saturday, March 8 at the GW-Mount Vernon Tennis Facility. The victory runs the Colonials streak to four sweeps in a row, scoring 28 of a possible 28 points over the span. The Colonials showed their dominance with only one singles match reaching a third set. Junior Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School) took care of business at number one singles, 6-0, 6-2 and teamed with freshman Marius Weigert (Hamburg, Germany/ESI International Academy) to win at number one doubles, 8-1. Sophomores Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) and Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny), added straight set victories for the Colonials at number two and three singles and teamed to win at number two doubles, 8-2. Freshman Joe Weissfeld (Akron,OH/Firestone) saw action at number six singles and took advantage of it with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 victory. He then teamed with senior Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison), who won at number five singles, to seal the match with a win at number three doubles. The Colonials will try and continue their streak when they travel to Pittsburgh, PA to face Duquesne on Friday, March 28.
