Men's Tennis Downs Howard, 4-3

WASHINGTON, DC - The Colonials men's tennis team defeated cross-town rival Howard, 4-3, Friday at GW's Mount Vernon Tennis Facility. With the victory, GW improved to 9-6 on the spring while Howard dropped to 8-12. Sophomore Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School) avenged an 8-6 loss at No. 1 doubles by defeating Howard's Cal Dudley, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Freshman Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central), playing at No. 2 singles, suffered just his second loss of the season dropping a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Howard's Dwayne Pagon. Treadgold teamed with Kevin Wright (Seminole, FL/Thomas Howard Academy) to win, 9-7, at No. 2 doubles. Senior Kinzie Wright (Seminole, FL/Thomas Howard Academy) won a battle at No. 5 singles defeating Howard's Jon Hall-Bryant, 7-6 (2), 6-2. Sophomore Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) won handily at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2. The Colonials take the week off for spring break before hosting Fordham Saturday, Mar. 23 at the GW's Mount Vernon Tennis Facility beginning at noon.
