Men's Tennis Woes Continue on the Road at Saint Joseph's, Temple

March 23, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The George Washington University men's tennis team dropped both its matches on the road last weekend, March 17-18, against Atlantic 10 Conference opponents Saint Joseph's and Temple. The Hawks and Owls each posted 5-1 victories over the Colonials with both matches being played at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center in Philadelphia.

On Friday, sophomore Mustafa Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey) recorded the Colonials' lone point with a 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 win over Jimmy Holland at No. 1 singles. Saint Joe's won the remaining four singles matches and took the doubles point for the final margin.

Gencsoy once again posted GW's only point in its match against Temple on Saturday, defeating Jordan Krevitz, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. The Owls sealed the win by winning at the second through sixth singles positions, while no doubles matches were played.

The Colonials (1-8) return to action when they host A-10 member Duquesne on Saturday, March 25, at 6 p.m.
