GW Men's Tennis Wins Fifth In A Row Over Mary Washington, 4-3

WASHINGTON, DC - The GW Men's Tennis team pulled out a tough match against Mary Washington, 4-3, on Wednesday, March 26 at the Montclair Tennis Club. Their five match winning streak improved their record to 8-4 on the season. The Colonials split with Mary Washington in singles competition winning three of the six matches. At number one, junior Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School) won a tough three setter against Paul Bristow, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. The win was Hane's ninth in a row. Sophomore Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) had no problems at number two with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Conor Smith. Freshman Jason Sucoll (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) pulled out a clutch win for the Colonials at number five singles, 7-6(5), 6-4. GW won two of the three doubles matches to earn the fourth and deciding point in the match. Hane teamed with senior Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) to win at number one doubles, 8-6. Sophomore Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) combined with Treadgold to win their fifth doubles match in a row, 8-6. The Colonials will try and stretch their win streak to six when they take on Duquesne this Friday, March 28 at 6:00 p.m. in Pittsburgh, PA.
