GW Men's Tennis Advances in A-10 Tournament
April 5, 2007 MONROEVILLE, PA - George Washington (7-10, 4-3 A-10) men's tennis, the #3 seed, defeated #6 Dayton, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament early Thursday afternoon. Against Dayton, GW took an early lead, winning the doubles point. The No. 2 team of Mustafa Gencsoy and Ryan Hunter won their match, 8-6. Brandon Harris and Mark Doumba were also victorious, winning 8-3 In singles play, the Colonials won all three matches to claim the tournament win. No. 1 player Mustafa Gencsoy won 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3 to open play. The other two GW winners were No. 4 Mark Doumba (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) and No. 6 Maxx Wattenberg (6-0, 6-4). With the win, the Colonials move on to the semi-finals, where they will play #2 Xavier. The Musketeers defeated #7 Saint Louis Thursday evening. GW fell to Xavier in their regular season meeting, on Feb. 16, losing 6-1 in Cincinnati, OH. GW's semi-final contest is scheduled for Friday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m.
