Men's Tennis Advances to Semifinals of Atlantic 10 Tournament

MONROEVILLE, PA - The George Washington men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament after sweeping Temple, 4-0, on Thursday, April 8. They will face Saint Joseph's after the Hawks defeated Dayton, 4-1 at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9. The Colonials had already won a 7-0 decision over Temple earlier this season, but have yet to face Saint Joseph's.
GW started strong by taking the doubles point from Temple with victories from the teams of senior Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud) and junior Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and junior Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) and freshman Daniel Balke (Portage, MI/Portage Northern). They reached the 4-0 decision with singles victories by Jopling, sophomore Will Timmons (Greenville, SC/Christ Church Episcopal) and senior Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison). Due to time constraints, the other matches were halted after the Colonials secured the victory.
