#67 GW Men's Tennis Blanks Longwood, 4-0

Freshman Danil Zelenkov extended his singles win streak to six with a 7-5, 6-0 No. 3 win against Longwood.

RADFORD, Va. - The No. 67 George Washington men's tennis team blanked Longwood, 4-0, to earn its seventh straight victory on Saturday at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

Along with the doubles point, the Colonials claimed victories at the Nos. 1, 3 and 6 singles positions to push their record to 14-5 and extend their winning streak, which dates back to March 16.

GW won the doubles point to open the match with a 1-0 lead, limiting Longwood to just five points. The No. 1 pair of junior Ulrik Thomsen and senior Alexander van Gils defeated James Fudge and Steed Johnson, 8-2, and the 90th-ranked No. 3 duo of sophomore Francisco Dias and senior Leonardo Lapentti remain undefeated with a 14-0 record after posting an 8-3 win over Harry Kelleher and Giorgi Khmiadashvili.

In singles action, Fomin downed Khmiadashvili, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 1 match, and Zelenkov defeated Edward Becker, 7-5, 6-0 in the third flight. At the No. 6 spot, junior Viktor Svensson nearly held James Fudge scoreless in a 6-0, 6-2 win.

GW will face Radford on Sunday for its third match in as many days. First serve is slated for 12 p.m.
