#57 GW Men's Tennis Tops Dayton at A-10 Championship
Top-Seeded Colonials Will Face Fourth-Seeded Richmond on Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 57 George Washington men’s tennis team earned a commanding 4-0 win over Dayton to advance to the semifinals of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday morning at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
The top-seeded Colonials (15-6) won the doubles point and earned straight-set victories at the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles positions to down the eighth-seeded Flyers (8-11). GW will face No. 4 Richmond in the semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m.
In doubles action, seniors Viktor Svensson and Ulrik Thomsen teamed up to defeat Dayton’s Drew Hanley and Enzo Milano, 8-3, in the No. 3 match, and senior Nikita Fomin and sophomore Danil Zelenkov secured the point at the No. 2 spot with an 8-5 win over Colin Bernier and Aiden Koross.
Thomsen pushed GW’s lead to 2-0 with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win over Bernier at No. 6 singles, and Tverijonas made it a three-point lead in the fourth flight with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Josh Malyon. Svensson clinched the match at the No. 5 spot as he defeated Andy Druffel, 6-4, 6-1.
The Colonials return to the Boar’s Head Sports Club on Saturday morning with hopes of reaching their fifth straight conference championship title match. GW defeated Richmond, 6-1, at home on April 5.
