ORLANDO, Fla. - The George Washington men's tennis team ended its Atlantic 10 Championship run in the semifinal round on Saturday, falling to VCU, 4-3, at the USTA National Campus.

The second-seeded Colonials (17-7) had an early lead after doubles play, but third-seeded VCU took four singles matches to advance to the final.

Junior Christos Hadjigeorgiou and senior Fernando Sala took a doubles win in the No. 2 spot and junior Chris Reynolds and freshman Jakub Behun won in third-flight play to give the Colonials the early 1-0 advantage over the Rams.

Reynolds carried his momentum into singles play, dominating in a straight-set triumph at No. 3 to increase GW's lead to 2-0.

VCU then mounted a comeback, taking the Nos. 6 and 2 to tie the match at 2-2.

Senior Julius Tverijonas gave GW the edge with his top-flight, three-set win before VCU took No. 5 to put all eyes on court four with the score at 3-3.

Hadjigeorgiou fought hard, pushing his match to a third set after dropping the first, but ultimately fell as VCU took the match, 4-3.

GW closes the season with the most wins since the 2014 season under the direction of first-year head coach David Macpherson.
