CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- George Washington University men's tennis junior Chris Kushma defeated Eastern Kentucky's Parul Verma 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the finals of the D Flight singles bracket Sunday, Sept. 13.

GW men's tennis opened the fall season at the 2009 UVa Classic Friday, seeing not only Kushma reach the finals but also the doubles duo of sophomore Ugur Atalay and junior Erik Hannah. Atalay and Hannah fell to UVa's top doubles team, ranked fourth in the nation, Houston Barrick and Sanam Singh, 8-3, in the A1 Doubles flight. The duo also defeated a second UVa doubles team on the way to reaching the finals.

The men's tennis team returns to the hard courts on Sept. 18, at the Georgetown Classic.
