Levinski Takes 2010 Georgetown Tennis Classic Crown
Sept. 19, 2010
WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Yan Levinski defeated University of Pennsylvania's Phil Law in straight sets to take the 2010 Georgetown Classic Sunday afternoon. Levinski won 6-2, 6-1 over Law, revenging a previous loss last season. "Yan played smart. He served smart, played steady and went for big shots at the right time," said head coach Greg Munoz. "As a senior, I hope Yan can keep this level of tennis up throughout the year. He is very capable of beating anyone he faces this year." Levinski defeated Georgetown's Mikey Clarke 6-0, 6-2 early Sunday to advance to the finals of the tournament. In Saturday's tournament action, with teammate and 2009 Georgetown Classic champion Chris Kushma watching from the sidelines, Levinski didn't drop a set. Facing top seed Ryan Pool from James Madison, Levinski powered through for a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Levinski and the men's tennis team take a few weeks off from tournament action before competing in the ITA/D'Novo All-American Championships the first weekend of October in Tulsa, OK.
