Sept. 28, 2010 FLUSHING, NY - GW's men's tennis team participated in the USTA College Invitational Sept. 24-26, taking on some of the top teams in the eastern region. Co-captain Christopher Kushma and Alexander van Gils pulled off an upset in doubles when they defeated the top seed from Harvard, 8-6. The duo fell later in the first day in a tough 9-8 match to Fairleigh Dickenson's Ibrahim Shams and Peter Skvarka. In the second day of doubles competition, Viktor Svensson replaced Kushma due to injury and teamed with Van Gils to defeat Princeton's Bloom and Spindler, 8-4. In singles action, freshman Viktor Svensson showed his potential by winning three of his four matches and only losing to one of Harvard's top players. Following Svensson's performance, Van Gils only dropped one match against the winner of his draw from Marist.
