Singles play start on Day Two

YORKTOWN, VA - In the first day of play at the Sergio Tacchini Invitational Friday, George Washington men's tennis newest members, freshman Ken Mkrtchian and walk-on Garrett Lockhart, powered to the finals of their doubles flight.

Mkrtchian and Lockhart outscored their opponents 24-15 in the first three rounds before falling in the finals 8-5 to Giancarlo Lemmi/Chad Simpson.

Richard Blumenfeld and Yan Levinski fell in their first-round match, but battled back to take the consolation title of the B flight doubles.

Singles play started on Saturday morning, already seeing Erik Hannah win in straight sets in his opening round match.
