Men's Tennis Falls at All-American Championships

Oct. 8, 2008

TULSA, OK. - Freshman Ugur Atalay and junior Ryan Schlachter traveled to Tulsa, OK for the All-American Championships, but came out on the short end of an 8-4 defeat to Miguel Reyes Varela and Olivier Sajous of Texas.

The duo from the lone star state was ranked #37 in the country and posted two victories on the first day of the tournament. The team fell behind early 4-1, but fought back to cut the Longhorn lead to 5-4. That was as close as the Colonial duo would get in the match as they eventually fell by the score of 8-4.

Even in defeat, Head Coach Greg Munoz was pleased with his player's effort. "I was impressed by their play", said Munoz. "If it weren't for the doubles faults, they may still be playing. I was happy with everything else they did. I look to them to make a strong showing at Regional's next week at Yale."
