CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The George Washington men's tennis team wrapped up singles action on the third day of the UVA Fall Classic on Sunday at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va.

"This was a successful weekend for everyone," said head coach Greg Munoz. "We really improved on some of our weaknesses and played some high-level tennis."

In Red Singles, freshman Francisco Dias advanced to the finals with an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory over William and Mary's Ben Guthrie. Dias was then edged in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1, in the final round by Jesse Kiuru from Maryland.

In Blue Singles, senior Ugur Atalay defeated Old Dominion's Wesley Barrett, 6-2, 6-4, for a seventh place finish.

Sophomore Viktor Svensson earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Florent Sentenac of James Madison for a sixth place finish in the White Singles bracket. In Orange Singles action, junior Leonardo Lapentti defeated JMU's Tommi Nissinen, who pulled out due to an injury, for sixth place.

"We know what we need to work on heading into Regionals next weekend and that will be our focus," Coach Munoz said. "We are really coming together as a team and we are excited about our next month of competition."

GW returns to the court in Charlottesville, Va., at the ITA Atlantic Regionals tournament from Thursday, Oct. 20 - Monday, Oct. 24. Results will be made available after the completion of each day of competition.
