CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - After three hours and three sets of hard fought back-and-forth play, freshman Francisco Dias ultimately fell to Virginia's Jarmere Jenkins - the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regional Championship No. 1 seed - 6-7 (5), 7-5, 7-5, on Monday afternoon in the quarterfinals of singles play.

Dias was eliminated from the tournament by Jenkins, ranked No. 18 in the country by the ITA, after cruising to the quarterfinals over the past three days at Virginia's Smith Tennis Center.

"Francisco controlled the match and fought for every point today," said head coach Greg Munoz. "His game is moving in the right direction and I am very proud of what he has done so far. He showed great pride and dignity both on and off the court, the way we expect our student-athletes to behave in victory and defeat."

Dias then teamed up with senior Ugur Atalay to face the No. 1 seeded doubles team of Maros Horny and John Collins of Maryland.

Horny - the No. 52 singles player - and Collins entered the 2011-12 fall season as the No. 9 doubles team in the country, as ranked by the ITA. The Colonials duo fell to the Terps, 6-2, 6-2, in the semifinal round of doubles play.

GW returns to Charlottesville, Va., for the third straight week on Monday, Oct. 31. The Colonials will compete in the USTA Virginia Challenger at the Smith Tennis Center from Oct. 31 - Nov. 3.
