Men's Tennis Wraps Up Play at Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional

BLACKSBURG, VA - George Washington University senior Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY) won one of two singles matches to highlight play for the Colonials this past weekend, Oct. 22-24, at the Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Virginia Tech, at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Treadgold opened with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Tal Meir of Stony Brook in the first round on Friday, Oct. 22. In the Round of 64 on Saturday, Treadgold faced 16th-seeded Arvid Puranen of Virginia Tech and fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Senior Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA) was the only other Colonial in action and dropped a tough three-set match in the opening round to Yale's Milosz Gudzowski, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4. Jopling and Treadgold also teamed together in doubles play, but bowed out in the opening round to 13th-seeded Phil Charm and Richard Moss of Brown, 8-3. The Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional marks the conclusion of the Colonials fall season. GW opens its spring campaign at Old Dominion on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. in Norfolk, VA.
