GW Men's Tennis Travels to No. 62 Cornell on Sunday

WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's tennis team will head to Ithaca, N.Y., to face No. 62 Cornell on Sunday, Jan. 26. Action between the Colonials and the Big Red inside the Reis Tennis Center is slated for 11 a.m.

GW (0-1) is coming off a season-opening loss to No. 45 BYU by a 4-3 mark on Monday. The Colonials picked up singles victories at Nos. 2-4 but were unable to overcome the doubles point loss to the Cougars. Junior Francisco Dias, sophomore Danil Zelenkov and rookie Julius Tverijonas each won their spring openers in the second, fourth and third flights, respectively.

Nationally ranked Cornell (0-1) also dropped its season opener by a 4-3 margin to Buffalo after losing the doubles point and splitting singles tilts. Amidst a five-match home swing, the Big Red host No. 72 Purdue on Saturday, Jan. 25 before welcoming GW on Sunday.

Senior Nikita Fomin enters weekend competition as the No. 124 player in the nation and No. 11 player in the ITA Atlantic Region while Dias and Zelenkov own No. 14 and 15 singles spots in the region.
