Feb. 3, 2010

WASHINGTON -- The George Washington men's tennis team was selected by the Atlantic 10 Conference coaches Wednesday as the top team to win the 2010 A-10 Championship, in Monroeville, PA, from April 16-18.

Juniors Chris Kushma, who comes off the fall season with an 11-2 record, Yan Levinski and Erik Hannah, lead the Colonials this season. Sophomore Ugur Atalay, 2009 A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer of the Year teams up with Hannah as the nationally ranked No. 29 doubles pair. Also returning for another season at GW are junior Arya Vayghan and sophomores Andy Erickson and Richard Blumenfeld.

Head coach Greg Munoz' team added two freshman to the roster this season, including Ken Mkrtchian and Garrett Lockhart, who won a share of the Navy Invitational in doubles action. Spring walk-on Frank Oloughlin will also look to push the team for playing time.

The Colonials get into the full swing of the 2010 season this weekend. The team opens the weekend at Temple, on Friday Feb. 5, beginning at 5 p.m., before traveling to Penn on Saturday, Feb. 6, with match time set at 11 a.m., and at William & Mary on Sunday, Feb. 7 starting at 10 a.m.
