Men's Tennis Set to Host a Pair of Weekend Matches

SERVING FIRST: The George Washington men's tennis team will continue its home stand at the Trump National Golf Course this weekend when it hosts Monmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Temple on Sunday at noon.

LAST TIME OUT: After beginning the 2018 season with a trip out to California, the Colonials dropped their first home match against Middle Tennessee State (7-0) last Friday.

ABOUT MONMOUTH: The Hawks will visit the Colonials on Saturday after a 0-3 start to their 2018 season. Lead by Junior Nicola Pipoli, the Hawks are touring the DMV with matches against Georgetown (2/9), GW, and the University of Virginia (2/11).

SERIES HISTORY: The Colonials will meet the Hawks for the first time in program history.

ABOUT TEMPLE: The Owls travel to Washington, D.C. after splitting their matches last weekend. Temple downed Villanova, 4-0, on Friday before falling flat to Penn State, 7-0 on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY: GW overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat visiting Temple, 4-2, last season. Then-freshman Dennis Afanasev solidified the win, coming back from a set down to claim a No. 5 victory.
