Men's Tennis Slips By Howard, 4-3

WASHINGTON, DC (Mar. 29) - George Washington picked up a narrow 4-3 decision over Howard this afternoon at Howard. GW improved to 3-11 on the season with the victory.

GW won four of the six singles matches to claim the win. Michael Stein powered past Jamar Stephens, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. Jonathan Davidson tallied a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jamal Ahmed at No. 4 singles, and Drew Zamansky cruised past Jaron Jackson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles. Kinzie Wright came back after losing the first set to claim a three-set win over Nicholas Askew, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.

Kevin Wright retired in the No. 1 singles match against Dwayne Papon with Paon ahead 6-4, 3-0. Khalid Saleh-Eddine recorded a singles victory for Howard with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win over Nick Vikstrom at No. 5 singles.

Howard won two of the three doubles matches to jump out to an early 2-1 lead in the match. Mike Melen and David Yans improved to 2-0 as a tandem this season with an 8-2 win over Salah-Eddine and Jackson at No. 3 doubles.

Stein and Davidson fell in the No. 1 doubles match, 8-4, to Howard's Papon and Stephens. Askew and Ahmed barely got past GW's Zamansky and Vikstrom, 9-8, at No. 2 doubles.

GW returns to action Thursday, April 6, with a 2:00 pm match at American.
