Ugur Atalay Named Men's Tennis 2008-09 MVP

WASHINGTON, DC- Ugur Atalay was named the 2008-09 men's tennis Most Valuable Player at The George Washington University annual Senior Honors Luncheon on May 4.

A freshman from Istanbul, Turkey, Ugur completed his first spring season at 15-6 on his way to helping GW secure a back-to-back No. 1 seeding in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championships. At the A-10 Championships, he won all three of his singles matches in the No. 2 flight to help the Colonials to a third-place finish and concluded the season with nine-match winning streak. Ugur was named A-10 Rookie and Player of the week April 13 and GW Colonial of the Week April 27.
