Four Named to A-10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Teams

May 12, 2009

PHILADELPHIA, PA - For the second straight year, the Atlantic 10's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer in men's tennis is a Colonial. Freshman Ugur Atalay is the league's top rookie, the A-10 announced on Tuesday.

Atalay is joined on the A-10 All-Conference first team by sophomore Yan Levinski, who was the 2008 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer. Levinski also was named to the Academic All-Conference team as a business major.

Atalay finished the season winning all three No. 2 singles matches in the Conference championship tournament, which extended his six-match winning streak to conclude the regular season. Atalay also was named Rookie and Player of the Week on April 13. Levinski forged a 10-9 singles record at the No. 1 flight and teamed with Chris Kushma at No. 2 doubles to post an 11-10 record.

Sophomores Erik Hannah and Kushma were named to A-10 All-Conference second team as well.

Hannah posted a 14-6 record from the No. 3 flight, with a 2-0 record in the Conference tournament. He was 8-11 at No. 3 doubles, playing with three different partners during the season. Kushma earned a 12-7 record for the Colonials at No. 4 singles, earning an A-10 Player of the Week honor on March 30. He put together a 10-match winning streak leading up to the Conference tournament.

The top-seeded Colonials finished in third place after falling to fourth-seeded St. Bonaventure in the second round of the 2009 A-10 Men's Tennis Championship. GW was undefeated against A-10 Conference teams in the regular season.
