![]() Men's Tennis has strong showing at UVA Fall Invitational |

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The George Washington University men's tennis team began their 2008-2009 campaign this past weekend at the University of Virginia Fall Invitational in Charlottesville, VA.
Competing in the tournament for the Colonials were sophomores Yan Levinski and Erik Hannah, and freshmen Arya Vayghan, Richard Blumenfeld and Andy Erickson.
The tournament was highlighted by two championships and one finals appearance. Levinski and Kushma defeated Carlos Garcia and Brandon Lindsley of Longwood 8-1 to win the third flight doubles title. Blumenfeld also won the fourth flight singles back draw title defeating Johaness John of Eastern Kentucky 6-3, 6-0. Erickson made it to the fifth flight back draw finals only to drop the match to Eduardo Pinto of Virginia Tech.
"This was a great first tournament overall" said Head Coach Greg Munoz. "The players are excited for the upcoming season as they look to build on their strength and conditioning."
The GW tennis team continues its fall schedule this weekend, when they participate in the Metro Tournament, hosted by Georgetown University.
George Washington finished the 2007-08 season 13-9 overall, and earned a second-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship.
