Men’s Tennis Open Play at Dick Vitale Invite

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. --The George Washington men’s tennis squad opened play at the Dick Vitale Invitational presented by First Watch on Friday.

Seniors Chris Fletcher and Chris Reynolds represented the Colonials for the first day of tournament play.

In singles action, Reynolds posted a victory over Jordan Belga from the University of Florida, 6-0, 6-4, before falling to Diego Vives from Princeton in a two and a half hour battle on clay court. Fletcher fell in the first round of singles play, but went on to post a victory in the first singles consolation round.

Fletcher and Reynolds played a close match in doubles action, but came up just short to UCF’s Daniel Kerznerman and Enrique Paya, 8-6.

The clay court tournament will continue with singles and doubles play on Saturday and will wrap on Sunday with champions crowned. The Dick Vitale Invite will be GW’s final competition of the fall semester.
