WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's and women's cross country will continue their respective seasons on Friday at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Penn State University on the Blue-White Golf Courses in State College, Pa.

The women's 6,000-meter race will commence at 12 p.m., followed by the men's 10,000-meter race at 1:15 p.m.

The NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional, along with the eight additional regional competitions held around the country, will serve as a qualifier for the NCAA Cross Country Championships (Nov. 17) at the University of Louisville. The top two finishing teams on both the men's and women's side will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships. The remaining teams will remain alive for 13 at-large bids.

Additionally, the top-four individual finishers that are not on qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.

The GW women's cross country team finished in 10th-place out of 16 teams at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Oct. 27. Senior Heather Stevens led the Colonials, finishing in 15th-place overall and clinching All-Conference honors.

The GW men finished in 13th-place in their race, paced by sophomore Jackson Carnes (56th) and senior Alex Dadds (57th).

The women's field includes four nationally-ranked teams including defending national champion Georgetown (No. 9), Penn State (No. 15) and Princeton (No. 25). The men's field has two nationally-ranked teams toeing the line in No. 13 Princeton and No. 24 Georgetown.
