Outdoor Track Wraps Season in Pair of Meets

May 16, 2017

WASHINGTON - George Washington's men's and women's outdoor track teams put an exclamation point on the academic year of 2016-17 with strong performances across two meets over the weekend. GW student-athletes competed at both the ECAC/IC4A Championship over the weekend and the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday.

A total of four new personal records and a new outdoor record in the men's 400-meter dash highlighted the busy weekend. Junior Ed Delavergne broke his own record in the 400m, finishing in 51.29 at the Swarthmore Last Chance, less than one second better than his time at the Atlantic 10 Championship on May 7.

He was joined in new PRs by junior Colin Wills (1500m) and sophomores Madison Yerke (1500m) and Lesley Fatica (1500m).

Junior Miranda DiBiasio is hopeful to continue her season in the 10,000-meter run at the upcoming NCAA Championship, June 7-10, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The full competition field will be announced on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
