Tom Bacsik joined the Colonials' staff as assistant director of basketball operations in August 2012. Bacsik will oversee team travel, coordinate the filming of practices and games, organize camps and clinics with the coaching staff, check student-athlete academic progress with class attendance and serve as a liaison with the GW athletics communications office. As a student at the University of Notre Dame, Bacsik served as a women's basketball team manager from 2008-10 while GW head coach Jonathan Tsipis was an associate head coach for the Fighting Irish. At Notre Dame, Bacsik coordinated travel arrangements, recorded daily practices and games, assisted with summer camps and prepared recruiting schedules for the coaches. "Tom understands from an administrative side the expectations and day-to-day operations that it takes to help the whole staff achieve success," Tsipis said. Prior to coming to GW, Bacsik was the director of admissions and transportation at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J., where he oversaw all facets of enrollment management for the school. Bacsik also coordinated all marketing and public relations efforts for the school, including its first-ever cable TV commercial, which was viewed in tens of thousands of households in New Jersey. During his tenure, he was the youngest director of admissions for a private school in the state. Bacsik graduated from Notre Dame in 2010 with degrees in marketing and theology. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from GW, concentrating in marketing. |
