WASHINGTON, DC (AP) - Jessica Adair scored 15 points and Kimberly Beck added 12 to help No. 17 George Washington beat Xavier 56-46 on Sunday.

Jazmine Adair added six points and 12 rebounds for George Washington (13-3, 1-0 Atlantic-10). The Colonials have now won eight straight games and have opened league play with a win the past 10 seasons.

Xavier (10-6, 0-1) was held to its second-lowest point total this season. Amber Harris led the Musketeers with 18 points.

George Washington opened up a lead early in the first half and held it to the final buzzer. The Colonials put the game away with a 10-0 run in the second half that gave George Washington a 54-35 lead with 6 minutes left.

The Colonials took advantage of Xavier turnovers and missed shots to build a 29-16 halftime lead.

NOTES: Jazmine Adair's 12 rebounds matched a career-high ... The announced crowd of 3,689 is the fourth highest for a women's basketball game in school history ... The victory was the 600th in GW program history since its inception in 1975 ... GW improved to 20-5 in A-10 openers ...
