WASHINGTON, DC - Senior Marsheik Witherspoon (Opa-Locka, FL/American Senior) tallied the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 assists, helping to extend George Washington's (15-5, 8-1) winning streak to seven with a victory over Fordham (11-9, 4-5), 73-45, on Friday, February 6 at Smith Center. With the win, the Colonials sustained their three-game lead in the Atlantic 10 West Division.

Seniors Cathy Joens (Irvine, CA/Calvary Chapel) and Ugo Oha (Houston, TX/Hastings) led GW in scoring on the night with 19 points a piece. Joens also contributed on the defensive end with five steals, while Oha grabbed seven rebounds and swatted three shots to put her just one blocked shot behind Tajama Abraham on GW's all-time shot blocking list.

Both teams got off to a sluggish start as GW led at the first media timeout, 6-4. But, the Colonials went on a 21-6 run starting with 10:13 left in the half to take a 35-18 lead into the break. GW cruised through the second half and at one point led by 32, on their way to the 28-point victory.

The Colonials shot over 50 percent for the fifth time in their last six games, while holding Fordham to just 30 percent from the field. GW was outrebounded for the first time during their seven game winning-streak, 39-36, despite a career-high 10 rebounds from senior Valerie Williams (Ft. Lauderdale, Fl/Ft. Lauderdale).

GW will look to keep their momentum when they travel to Richmond on Sunday, February 8 to face the Spiders at 2:00 p.m.
