Feb. 17, 2006

Box Score

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington moved into a tie for first place in the Atlantic 10 with a 67-49 victory over La Salle in front of 642 at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. It was the Colonials fourth-straight win and 11th consecutive at home as GW pulled even with Charlotte for first place in the Atlantic 10. The 49ers were defeated 82-64 at Richmond, GW's next opponent at Smith Center on Sunday. Versus La Salle, two Colonials, Jazmine Adair and Whitney Allen, recorded their second-career double-doubles. Though only a sophomore, guard Kimberly Beck, recorded her 300th career assist and is 15th all-time at George Washington.

The Colonials used a distinct height advantage to score 42 of their 67 points in the paint compared to La Salle's 10. GW outrebounded the Explorers 45-33 and is now 13-0 when beating an opponent on the boards. GW shot better than 45 percent in the second half and finished with 42 percent from the field. The Colonials led for all but the first minute of the game and took a 35-28 lead into halftime.

Jazmine Adair had a monster first half with nine rebounds and eight points and reached double-digits in both categories just 1:15 into the second half. She finished with a career-high 12 rebounds and matched her personal best with 12 points. She tied her season high with 22 minutes and made six of 12 attempts which was twice her previous high. Her first double-double of her career was registered against then-No. 19 Temple on January 11, 2006.

Whitney Allen also recorded her second-career double-double with a team-high 13 points and 11 rebounds. Her previous double-double was recorded versus Maine on December 17, 2005 when she had a career-high 16 points and 13 rebounds. That game against Maine was also the last time that the Colonials had two players record a double-double in the same game, when senior Jessica Simmonds joined Allen.

Kimberly Beck had her 300th career assist with a game-high seven tonight. While only a sophomore, Beck is already 15th all-time on the Colonials career scorers list. Beck finished with eight points and hit two of GW's three three-pointers. She added three steals and matched a career-high with three blocks in a team-high 38 minutes.

GW plays next at noon on Sunday at Smith Center as host to Richmond who has beaten No. 23/22 Temple and Charlotte at home in its last two games. GW has won its last four and 11-straight at home.
