Postgame quotes

GW Coach Joe McKeown
On going 6 for 22 from the free-throw line.
"That's basically the game. If we make them in the first half, we're up by 15 at halftime, and maybe we blow Richmond out of the game. Instead, we breathe life into them by missing all those free throws."

Any reason for the poor free-throw shooting
"[Jessica] Simmonds went one-for-10 - that's the glaring one. She got hurt last week, sprained her wrist on her shooting hand. Maybe that had something to do with it."

Did it hurt not having Keenan Cole in the game?
"Not having her in the second half really hurt us. We're used to having her on the floor, so it certainly didn't helf. But when you go 6 for 22 from the line and lose by 4, it's pretty obvious."

How did Keenan get injured?
"She just banged knees with a player and, I think, got a contusion. We'll get her looked at today. I think she'll be fine. It was just tough timing."

Is Jessica Simmonds' frustration with the constant double-teaming affecting her performance?
"I think it's more a matter of injuries. She had a really bad injury at Saint Bonaventure last week. She couldn't practice all week. That's probably a big part of it."

With two big games coming up this weekend, how important is practice this week?
"Today didn't help, but we're still in position to play for the number one seed next weekend. But it's kind of where we are. It's hard to look ahead with our team because we're so young. We want to just stay focused on the next game."

On the second half.
"in the second half today, we just struggled, especially defensively. I thought [Araceli] Gil dominated the game in the send half. We left her open. There were breakdowns, and she made us pay. We did a better job on [Amber] Petillon in the second half; she only scored six points. But the threes Chapman and Gil hit came at big times."
