NCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Coach Joe McKeown
On last two weeks of season coming up:
"I think this time of year you feel like you feed off your team a lot. Their energy and how they feel and you are always trying to get them to understand it is a special time of the year and there is a lot there for us if we want it. It just really becomes up to them. Coaches are going to tell you what to do and put you in the right place, but its really how much energy they have as a team and how much they want it. We are playing better and playing as a team. There are a lot of things that could happen for this team and that is what I'm trying to get them to understand about the next two weeks."
On its recent winning streak:
"We are pretty beat up right now and tired. We played three straight road games and to finish 3-0 on the road in any league is tough. To come back today and play in a game that was that physical and demanding, I really have to give these players a lot of credit."
On defending Xavier's Tara Boothe:
"I thought Jessica Simmonds did a terrific job on Boothe for most of the time she was in there. We got a little bit of help, but she is a terrific player and you always have to be aware of where she is on the court. We also did a good job of making it hard for her to get the ball."
Senior Anna Montañana
On her clutch play in the game and what it is like to be a leader:
"I like to be in that situation because if you are competitive you like when things are close. I have great players around me and they are learning so much, including the freshmen. We are learning to play with each other so much better that it's easy, not difficult."
Freshman Kimberly Beck
On her performance in the second half:
"I think I was a little too excited in the first half because it was such a big game. The second half I calmed down and started to feed off Anna (Montañana) and my teammates."
