E#3 Massachusetts 67, W#6 Duquesne 52

E#3 Massachusetts led the entire game and had five players score in double figures en route to a 67-52 victory over W#6 Duquesne in the first round of the 2005 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Smith Center in Washington, DC. Katie Nelson led the way for the Minutewomen with 17 points, including three three-pointers. Kate Mills contributed 14 points. Pam Rosanio had 12 and Brooke Campbell and Tamara Tatham each added 10. The Minutewomen were 24-of-46 from the floor (.522), while Duquesne shot .304 from the field (17-56), including six three's.

The Minutewomen led by 15, 30-15, with 8:02 left in the first half and owned a 38-28 margin at halftime. In the second half, Massachusetts extended its advantage to 20, 48-28, with 15:05 left in regulation and cruised to the 15-point win.

Loui Hall and Aiga Bautre each scored 16 points to pace the Dukes.

The Minutewomen will take on W#2 Xavier at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 in a quarterfinal matchup.
