Box Score

WASHINGTON, DC - Hartford used a 14-6 run over the final seven minutes to defeat Liberty, 46-39, in the first game of the second annual GW Thanksgiving Classic at Charles E. Smith Center Friday afternoon.

MaryLynne Schaefer opened and closed the spurt with three-pointers as the Hawks turned a 33-32 deficit with 7:22 to play into a 10-point lead with 1:25 remaining. Erica Beverly led Hartford (4-2) with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Hartford opened the second half on a 10-0 run and held Liberty scoreless the first eight minutes of the final period, but the Lady Flames recovered to regain the lead twice before the Hawks' game-changing rally.

Liberty (1-3), which played without leading scorer Megan Frazee for the second straight game, was held to its fewest points since Nov. 2005. Brittany Campbell paced the Lady Flames with 11 points.

Hartford advances to Saturday's championship game at 5:30 pm, while Liberty will play in the consolation at 3:00 pm.
