Sophomore Chakecia Miller posted back-to-back 20-point performances, matching her career high, to lead GW to a 1-1 week. She shot 66.7 percent (12-for-18) from the field and 94.1 percent (16-for-17) from the foul line, adding 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game.
Miller opened the week with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 8-of-9 free throws to go with five steals and three assists against Saint Joseph's. She scored 10 straight points for the Colonials during a late run that cut their deficit to 10. Then in GW's 79-68 win at VCU, Miller again scored 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting and a perfect 8-of-8 at the charity stripe, adding four rebounds, two assists and three steals. She scored 12 points in the first half and made six straight free throws in the final minutes to seal GW's first A-10 win of the season.
The Marietta, Ga., native is averaging 16.3 points in Atlantic 10 play, the sixth-best mark in the league, and she has raised her season scoring average nearly two points in the last three games.
